Leyton Orient 0 Swansea 0
Ten man Leyton Orient ground out a valuable point in their struggle to stave off relegation in a stalemate at Swansea, writes Ronan Murphy.
The match was not one for the neutrals, with Orient focused merely on keeping out an injury-hit Swansea side.
Swansea’s talisman Lee Trundle was unsurprisingly the focal point of their attacking efforts. Twice in the first half his team-mates spurned chances created by his intelligent passing, as Ian Craney shot wide and Izzy Irikpien missed a free header.
Orient’s attacking threat was negligible, their best effort a weak shot from Shane Tudor after a fine run. The second half saw Trundle failing to convert Leon Brittain’s through ball early on. Swansea dominated possession but could not break through a determined Orient rearguard.
Orient’s Adam Chambers was sent off thirteen minutes from time for a second yellow card and Swansea’s Pawel Abbot had a header cleared off the line, but Martin Ling’s men held on for the point. The result was a blow to Swansea’s bid for promotion, as it left them seventh, still four points off the play-off places.
